On October 17, leveraging the HICOOL 2025 Global Entrepreneur Summit, the launch ceremony of the MT Research Institute (Mourou-Tajima Institute) and the signing of the joint laboratory agreement were held at the New Quality Productivity Creation Center in Beijing Huairou Science City.

This event brought together Nobel Prize-winning physicist Professor Gérard Mourou, renowned physicist Professor Toshiki Tajima, top global experts in the laser field, leading companies in the industry chain, research institutions, and government representatives. Zhao Wei, Director of the Academic Committee of the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Xiaojun, Chairman of Xi'an Micromach Technology Co., Ltd., and She Jinghuai, Director of the Wuxi Huishan Hongguang Optoelectronics Innovation Center (in preparation), were invited to attend the event.

The MT Research Institute, in collaboration with the Beijing Laser Acceleration Innovation Center, the Guangdong Emerging Laser Plasma Technology Research Institute, and Xi'an Micromach Technology Co., Ltd., among other institutions, jointly initiated the establishment of the International Advanced Laser Alliance.

Part 1: MT Research Institute Officially Launched

As a pivotal research platform in the fields of global laser acceleration and advanced laser technology, the MT Research Institute was co-founded by Nobel Prize-winning physicist and inventor of femtosecond lasers, Professor Gérard Mourou, and renowned physicist Professor Toshiki Tajima. Gérard Albert Mourou, a distinguished French physicist and the 2018 Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, is globally recognized for his groundbreaking contributions to laser physics. He has emphasized the importance of international collaboration and actively promoted China's leading position in the field of ultra-high-power lasers.

Driven by this vision, the MT Research Institute will focus on systematic research in key areas, including the development of upstream components such as high-power laser chips and fiber lasers, iterative advancements and miniaturization breakthroughs in laser accelerator technology, and core technology development for medical equipment like laser proton knives and industrial-grade Laser Processing systems. The institute aims to establish a complete closed loop encompassing fundamental research, applied research, technology validation, and industrial implementation.

Part 2: Joint Laboratory Signing Ceremony

The launch ceremony of the MT Research Institute and the joint laboratory signing event were held at the Huairou Science City New Quality Productivity Creation Center. Eleven enterprises and institutions, including the Wuxi Huishan Hongguang Optoelectronics Innovation Center (in preparation), Peking University Third Hospital, and Guangzhou Industry Investment Holding Group, signed cooperation agreements with the leading units of the alliance. The collaborations focus on key areas such as high-power laser components, laser medical equipment, and industrial laser applications.
